Sauro Tronconi is an Italian author, essayist and philosopher. For more than forty years, his work has explored memory, attention, time and the processes through which experience becomes personal continuity.
His research brings philosophy, psychology, anthropology, semiotics, the history of religions, cognitive science and contemplative traditions into dialogue while keeping their claims distinct. Its central question is simple to state and difficult to answer: what enables a person to remain connected to themselves while time, habit, culture and technology continually reshape perception?

Memory and continuity
Memory is not understood only as the storage of past information. It selects, connects and reconstructs experience, allowing separate moments to acquire continuity and direction.
Attention and agency
Habits and automatic responses are necessary parts of life. The question is what happens when they continue to govern after circumstances have changed, and whether attention can create a real interval between stimulus and response.
Culture and transmission
Language, myths, rituals, symbols, works and institutions shape what individuals and societies can remember. Cultural memory is therefore part of the inquiry into identity, responsibility and the future.
Technology as a cognitive environment
Digital platforms and intelligent systems do more than store or distribute information. They organise attention, anticipate preferences and participate in decision processes. The work does not portray technology or artificial intelligence as evil agents; it examines incentives, design choices and the human capacities affected by them.
Research & AI — Human Consciousness and Artificial Intelligence introduces an exploratory line of inquiry into memory, metacognition, bias, cognitive delegation and responsibility. Development matrices are presented as a conceptual proposal, with philosophical interpretations and empirical claims kept distinct.

The Memory Principle: How Time Gives Birth to Consciousness
The Memory Principle: How Time Gives Birth to Consciousness is a completed, unpublished Italian manuscript. It examines memory as the process through which lived experience can become continuity, responsibility and choice. Its concept of vertical memory is philosophical and experiential, not a claim to a new neuroscientific faculty.
Digital Zombification
Digital Zombification is the English edition of Zombificazione digitale, published in Italian in 2026. The English paperback was published in September 2026. The book investigates designed environments that capture attention, orient behaviour and encourage cognitive delegation. It focuses on the economic, cultural and technological architecture that makes automatic response useful and profitable.
These two works offer complementary entry points into a wider body of research: the continuity of experience and the environments that shape attention and choice.
The Unreliable Species
The Unreliable Species is the proposed international title of La specie inaffidabile. Quando la potenza supera la capacità di correggersi. A complete Italian manuscript examines the gap between the power of our tools and our capacity to recognise mistakes and change course. It extends the inquiry into memory and consciousness towards collective responsibility. English translation work is in progress.
International development
Sauro Tronconi’s work is being developed through an international programme of targeted outreach to selected publishers, agents, journals, festivals, universities, foundations, podcasts and research centres.
Targeted activity has begun across multiple national and territorial markets. The purpose is to build durable cultural relationships around a body of research, not simply to circulate a single manuscript indiscriminately.
Activity is at different stages across territories and does not in itself imply editorial interest, representation or partnership. Any formal agreement will be identified explicitly.
Publishing, rights and media enquiries
For The Memory Principle, the Italian manuscript is complete and unpublished; an English-language proposal, synopsis and evaluation sample are available on request. These are working materials, with professional translation and editorial revision required before publication. German, French and Spanish materials are also in development.
The es·books editorial project supports the international development of the corpus. Spanish editorial preparation and German and French translation work are under way for Digital Zombification. Publication, evaluation materials and translations in progress are identified separately. Information current as of September 2026.

Selected background
Tronconi has published essays, novels and short fiction. His international publishing record includes Selbsterkenntnis und innere Entwicklung des modernen Menschen, published in Germany by Arbor Verlag in 2008, and Beyond the Sin of Unconsciousness: Self Awareness and Inner Evolution in Contemporary Man, published in English in 2020.
He wrote the original story concept for the animated short Lo specchio di Lorenzo, produced by beQ entertainment for Rai Ragazzi and broadcast on Rai Yoyo. In 2010, he co-authored a pilot study on self-awareness published in Psychological Reports and indexed in PubMed.
He founded Espande Magazine and the Espande Institute, now Espande Academy, and has conducted more than two thousand seminars and lectures. His work developed outside a conventional academic career through sustained independent study, writing, public activity and research journeys in Asia, the Middle East and the United States.
